We cannot get so wrapped up in the details of how to move God’s Word, that we forget to do. Those of us who believe we walk by faith often tend to wonder if we are doing what we are supposed to, or whether or not it is enough. In the Word, we read of many who walked by faith, but who also did things wrong. God is only limited by our lack of faith. God Who is all powerful and almighty is not able to work in our lives unless we walk by faith and ask Him to be part of our walk. How can we, on a daily basis, know if we are walking by faith? Is there a definition we can apply to ourselves as Christians? Each of us has been called to a particular task and walk. No one can walk in another’s shoes. Each of us has been hand-picked to carry out the work that God has entrusted to us.
The scriptures teach us of many examples of men who had to rise up to walk in faith, such as David, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, Hosea, and Peter. The scriptures record events in each of their lives when they had to rise above what people were saying to heed and act upon what God told them to say and do. For example, when David and his men returned to Ziklag to find their homes destroyed and their wives gone, David sought God’s counsel before going after his enemy. The people were turning to him in their grief. Yet David did not act until he received information from God to do so. God gave David promises because he was walking as God had asked, by faith. When we do so also God will establish us with abundance and prosperity. But we cannot look at the way another is walking with God and think we should walk that way also. God has a plan for each of us individually.
When Peter was brought before the council for going against their orders and speaking for God, his response was “We ought to obey God, not man.” Each of us has this choice. We each have the ministry of reconciliation. We are ambassadors for God.
Hebrews says without faith it is impossible to please God. If we are to have faith, we must seek out the Lord. We have a job to do and have the best boss in the world to give us direction and guide us. God also knows we will trip up at times, but just as an earthly father loves and forgives his children, so does our God. God is only limited by our lack of faith!
