TOur God is a God of light, a God of deliverance, a God of prosperity, a God of miracles and a God of love! Paul tells us by revelation that God will supply all our need by Christ Jesus and that God will never leave us nor forsake us. When people cry unto the Lord, God hears them. There are blessings of obedience and consequences of disobedience.

To understand the love of God, we must first understand freedom of will. When a child expresses his or her freedom of will by disobeying the parameters of love set by his parents, there are consequences. Parents set the parameters because they are smarter than their children. How much smarter than us is our heavenly Father Who sets parameters of love for us.

God’s love exists in an atmosphere of freedom of will. Each individual freely choose to accept or obey God’s Word or to reject and disobey it. God’s Word clearly declares there are corresponding blessings for obedience and consequences for unbelief and sin. People reap to themselves the consequences of their actions.

By human nature, when someone sins, the first response is to hide from God. This begins with the rationalization of the sin. God gave man all that was good and promised to protect and care for His man. He gave His Word for man’s benefit and blessings when obeyed.

In Deuteronomy, Moses presented the Word of God to the children of Israel, placing before them a blessing and a curse. When they chose to disobey God, there were consequences. When they chose to repent and obey, there were blessings.

Romans declares that the goodness of God leads man to repentance. Repentance is a Godly sorrow, acknowledging sin in one’s life, followed by mourning, confession and, finally, the joy of forgiveness and the blessings. When we acknowledge our sin, we are no longer hiding from God. We are to humble ourselves before God and submit to the authority of His Word. When we do, we acknowledge the sin and seek His forgiveness. The result, as recorded in James, is that we will resist the devil and he will flee from us. If we do not humble ourselves and submit ourselves to God, we can resist the devil all we want, but he will not flee from us.

Sin separates man from God. If we confess our sin, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we are not receiving the blessings of God, we must examine ourselves and mourn and repent where necessary. We will receive God’s forgiveness and blessings.
