"In The Abundance Of Peace And Truth" - Rev. Steven A. Michels

John 14:27; Romans 5:1; Isaiah 25:1,4,9; II Peter 1:2; Colossians 3:15, 16; Proverbs 25:11; Isaiah 26:3,4; Psalm 23:2; 29:11; 37:3-11; 72:5-7; Jeremiah 33:6

We talk about basking in the love of God. When we are mindful of the love of God, what Christ accomplished for us and how precious we are to God, we bask in the peace of God. It is one of the most precious sonship rights we have through Christ Jesus.

The antithesis of peace is to be troubled. When, at times in our lives, we are troubled, we should stop and consider what we need to do to regain that peace in our minds. When we have peace WITH God, there is no friction or problem. God is not mad at us nor a vindictive God looking to pour out the consequences of our sin. He looks to pour out His blessings. Legally, it is our right as sons to have peace WITH God. But experiencing the peace OF God is something we arrive at based out what we are focusing on. It is the surety of God’s Word that gives us peace. God’s desire is that we be absolutely baptized (submerged) in peace.

We must “let” the peace of God rule in our hearts. That requires a free will decision to exercise our minds in the Word of God. To do so requires time in the Word and remembering scriptures we may have memorized. Sometimes it may be just one scripture that will help us regain our peace.

God promises He will give peace to His people. He will bless His people with peace. We can rest in the Lord, free from anxiety and wait patiently for Him knowing that He will bless us. We can delight ourselves in the abundance of peace with thoughts of our love relationship with God Almighty. We will have great healing and ultimate deliverance in the new heaven and earth.

Jeremiah 33:6 teaches us that God will bring health and cure us and will reveal to us the abundance of peace and truth. We are God’s children. We have peace WITH God. We can claim the peace OF God as we remind ourselves of the truths of God’s Word.
