When we have issues in our lives for which we need prayer, we should maintain an attitude of expecting to receive from God. When God told Noah to build the ark in Genesis 6, He gave Noah a vision. Noah then expected God to follow through on that vision, which God did. When God told Abraham in Genesis 12 to leave his homeland, Abraham, left because he expected to receive from God. God promised Abraham He would make of him a great nation, and bless him. God followed through on His promise. When Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, they did not know that God would use their actions to save the nation of Israel via Joseph’s hands, but Joseph expected God to bless him and God did.
All these examples show we can have a vision of expectation when it comes to God. When God says it, that settles it. We should approach every new day by asking God what He would have us to do. Then throughout the day we should continue to have an attitude of expectation to receive. When we ask according to God’s will, He hears us. He knows our needs.
Every day we must diligently seek God. With faith and hope, we can expect God to bring His promises to pass. We can be assured of receiving God’s best. Our heavenly Father wants only the best for us, and we must be prepared to receive. We must never lose hope, because faith without hope is impossible. We cannot and should not expect instant gratification or results just because we bring something to God in prayer. We must understand God’s timing is perfect. He knows what we need and when we need it.
Holy spirit makes it possible for us to maintain this faith and hope. It energizes us and gives us guidance to seek out the Father. We have to have that spiritual line of communication with the Father. Spirit can only talk to spirit. God is spirit and we must worship Him in spirit and in truth. Spirit enables us to be and do those things to which God calls us.
Whatever we genuinely need as God’s children, He will supply abundantly. But our hearts must be ready to receive. God is the supplier of our every need, without exception. His timing is perfect. A literal translation of Habukkuk 2:3 is “For yet the vision is for a season. And it breatheth for the end, and doth not lie. If it tarry, wait for it, for surely it cometh, it is not late.” Let us continue to wait on God’s timing, with faith and expectation of His blessings.
