"The Undeniable Proof of Eternal Life" - Rev. Steven A. Michels

John 3:16, 17; I John 5:11-13; Revelation 1:5-7, 18; Romans 6:9, 8:29, I Corinthians 15:20-23; Colossians 1:18; Acts 17:31; I Peter 1:3; Hebrews 9:28; Philippians 3:20, 21; I John 3:1, 2; John 14:1-3; II Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:1-6; Acts 2:32-39

The undeniable proof of eternal life is that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. What a wonderful gift we have through Jesus Christ, our Lord. We should give great praise and thanks to God for raising His Son from the dead, and thereby assuring our own resurrection!

Romans 6 teaches us that death has no more dominion over Christ and that he dies no more. This is immortality. What is this so significant? Because the same promise is to us. Jesus Christ was the firstborn, which implies that there will be more. Our assurance that we have the promise of eternal life is that God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.

Central to the Christian faith is Jesus Christ’s resurrection from the dead. He willingly offered his life; his blood was shed as our sacrificial offering to allow us to be righteous in God’s sight. This refers not only to those sins taken away at the new birth, but those we commit afterward as well.

Christ is coming back and we have some wonderful things to look forward to. For one, we will have a brand new body like his resurrected body which was not restricted by any natural laws. We will also get a brand new life.

We understand the significance of Christ’s suffering and death and what he endured on our behalf. But we also remember that he got up and he is coming back! No one can fully understand the fullness of what will happen at Christ’s return.

Often when offered the pure truth of the Word of God, people respond as they did on the day of Pentecost by asking “What shall we do?” Peter’s response was to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. The promise to them was also to anyone who does the same now — they will receive the gift of Holy Ghost and eternal life.

God made it so easy to change from a heart of pride and ego to accepting the gift of holy spirit and allowing Jesus to be Lord. At that time, each person receives eternal life and complete salvation in Christ.
