Our God is a God of forgiveness and healing. As believers on the go, it is more devastating to notice sin in our lives than it is for those who are lukewarm and not really eager to do things for God. We want to be and do things right. We look at God’s Word and think of His grace which is a gift because He is loving and good. We have no problem accepting God’s grace. But when we realize we have sin in our lives, we still have an initial response of not thinking we are worthy. When we stay in the mind set of focusing on our sins and shortcomings, it is harder to look at God’s Word and receive it.
God is as bountiful in His mercy as He is with His grace. His mercy means when we have fallen short, God withholds from us what we have coming to us for our mistake or sin. We see this exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ who came to this earth so people could be saved, not to condemn the world.
Often in the scriptures we find the forgiveness of sins closely aligned with healing diseases. Often the consequences of sin is demonstrated in sickness. Jesus Christ came to deliver people from their sins. We have forgiveness of sins though the shedding of Christ’s perfect blood. Once the sin is cleansed, the consequences are gone. If we have sinned before God, the most important thing is reconciliation. If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive them and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Sometimes it is difficult to let go of something we deem important yet holds us back from true fellowship with God. With God’s help it is not impossible to get out of the situation or problem. We must be humble, which means an emptying of ourselves and acknowledgement that we cannot do it without God’s help.
We read accounts in the Bible where people were healed after Jesus said their sins were forgiven. Sin consciousness can keep a person from being healed. We must not allow the Devil to keep throwing our sins in our face. We should obey God rather than man. When God says we are cleansed of all unrighteous sin, we should agree with God. We can believe in God’s forgiveness and healing for each of our lives.
