We have so much to be thankful for, because we have a good God who takes such good care of us! God’s Word promises us that we an safely place ourselves in His care.
Jesus Christ taught his disciples to not be anxious about where food or clothing or shelter will come from. He taught that God knows we have need of these things. Our focus should instead be on seeking the kingdom of God.
The Psalmist writes that God is a sun and shield. The sun warms and a shield protects. God will not withhold any good thing from us. We as humans are limited in what and how much we can give but God’s Word says every beast of the forest is His and the cattle upon a thousand hills. The silver and the gold is His. It is all His and God has pleasure when His people prosper. This prosperity is all encompassing. It includes peacefulness in our minds, a spiritual relationship with God and His Son and our financial needs being met. Prosperity simply means to “walk in a good way.” God is a limitless source of supply.
What can we do in response? God simply asks us to honor Him with the firstfruits of our increase. This is the cycle of receiving, giving and receiving. We receive everything from God. He simply asks us to give a tithe (10%) back and in response He will pour out His blessings so there is not room enough to receive them. He will also rebuke the devourer who is the devil whose goal is to steal everything God would give us.
Prosperity can mean many things, but having the things we need in life is included. We can shout for joy and be glad.
Let us therefore put these promises in our minds and hearts and begin confessing these truths. We can move from being confessors to possessors. We can claim what God promises to us, because what He promises, we have the right to lay hold upon. We can expect to receive from Him! We can rely on God’s good care. He not only has the resources but He is willing to care for us in every category of our lives.
