I John 1:1-9; 2:1,2; Psalm 103:8-14; Psalm 32:1-11
God’s mercy is everlasting and His truth endures to all generations. God is a good God.
Sometimes we have our lives all in order and are doing just fine. Then the frailty and weakness of our flesh sets in. We do and think things that are wrong and we sin. God’s Word teaches that God is plenteous in mercy. His desire is for us to have joy at all times.
The sour and heavy times in life come as we Christians are outside the Word of God and aware of it. The condemnation and realization of sin is a heavy burden. With God’s mercy that endures forever, we are aware that He is so willing to accept us when we come to Him in repentance, asking for forgiveness and help to stay out of those negative situations.
God is so willing to forgive us and help restore us to a tender relationship with Him. He wants our joy to be full. When we know we are in the presence of God and doing His will, we are very blessed.
The goal of Christianity is to have a knowledge of God, His Son, Jesus Christ, and to share in an intimate fellowship. When we have fellowship with God and His Son, we can have fellowship with one another.
Fullness of joy is know that our heavenly Father will love us forever and that Jesus Christ is not ashamed to call us brethren. Jesus Christ is forever making intercession for us. We have brothers and sisters to share a common bond and rapport because we are part of the same family.
God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. The idea is to walk in the light of fellowship with Him. When we are walking in darkness and saying we are in the light, we are liars. If we walk in the light the powerful blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin.
If we sin, we are to confess our sins. Confess is the Greek word, homologeo, which means to say or confess the same thing. We are to agree with God that what we are doing is sin. We are then cleansed from ALL unrighteousness. We are, at that time, squeaky clean and can have fullness of joy. There is a wonderful song in our hearts when we have fullness of joy and have been delivered from sin.
The upright in heart are those who are in fellowship with God. When we get deceived or deceive ourselves, we must go to God and ask for forgiveness. God is a forgiving Father who loves us. No man or woman is ever perfect and self-righteous. All sin and fall short of the glory of God. We can take the time to enjoy the wonderful refreshing forgiveness of God, allowing His love to cover us. We can let loose of any burdens or weights. As we remember what God is so willing to forgive us of, we can do the same with each other. We will have wonderful fellowship with God, His Son, Jesus Christ, and each other.
