Life is full of challenges and we always want to do what is right. We participate in many things involving our families and communities that are helpful and worthwhile. God’s desire for His people is the best and while we know this, we sometimes get side tracked or misled. When we get misled, we must go to God with the question — “What do you want me to do?” God will give us the answer.

II Chronicles 7:14 says, “If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

We first notice in this verse that God is addressing His people. This is a personal matter. He foreordained us to walk in Him and wants us to communicate with Him. We humble ourselves by acknowledging our need for God and Jesus Christ. We pray by simply talking to God. Prayer is the link between “I can’t” and “God can.” As we go to our earthly father to seek help, we go to our heavenly Father. We are to seek His face by having quiet time and seeking a relationship with Him. We are to turn from our wicked ways. We all have negative experiences in our lives and are pulled by pressures and pleasures to do what is wrong. But we are to turn from that to God.

God’s promise in II Chronicles 7:14 is that His people will hear from heaven, God will forgive their sin and heal their land. God’s answer to life’s challenges is that as we do our part (humble ourselves, pray, seek God’s face and turn from our wicked ways), God will do His part (we will hear from heaven, He will forgive our sins and heal our land). We may not always have all the answers to things in this life, but we do have within us the One who does. When we do our part and allow God to do His, we will have victory.
