One-Body thinking, being Kingdom-minded, takes us out into the community to expose those around us to the Word of God. We cannot insulate ourselves from those who might think a little differently, or have another perspective than what we are accustomed to in our particular belief system. God’s family extends far beyond the walls of one or another individual church, so as members of the Body of Christ, we must see how one life can make a difference.

When the disciples went forth in the book of Acts as Jesus had commanded there were signs following them, confirming their words. They did not do these things by themselves or through some vast depth of intellectual knowledge but with the Lord. They and us are in a partnership — the Lord works with each individual and establishes what they are speaking as truth with signs. These are things people can see. One way they can see is in how we live. If we walk with honesty and integrity, having ethics and principles, our moral basis is reflected in our lives and people see it!

There is no question we have a lot of Word-knowledge in the church today. But why not take what we already know, work it, then live it not only in our personal lives, but in our communities. We are to be the salt of the earth. When salt is put into food, it subtly infiltrates and changes the food. If God’s people do not have the Word of God in their hearts, how can they affect the world with truth? Our lights shine, we have plenty of Word, but we need to get involved in our communities. God’s idea is to saturate communities with His ideas.

God knows our lives, our churches and the need of the people in our communities. He knows what is happening in our local governments, law enforcement agencies, homeowner’s associations. He can help by showing His people what is needed to better our society.

In the Book of Acts, God accomplished great things because a few people asked, “What would You have me to do?” We have to ask this because the methods to change things are different depending on the needs.

A man once said, “Do not what God has spoken to us in times past. Times past are not past to Him, and He is the way-maker. Walk in the way He has made, and remember a bride is most in doubt when making final preparation. His promises are yes and amen. Cling to the vine.” As we seek His face forevermore, He will continue to speak with us all our lives. God wants us to be blessed, salted and see the fruit in our lives. A person who stays in the Word and seeks God is blessed.
