While we talk a lot about giving and are blessed to do so, we must know and have faith in the promises that God wants us to receive as well. The promise of God is that His blessings make us rich and He adds no sorrow with it. There is no catch to God’s promises.

For those who love God and endeavor to serve Him to the best of their ability, there is a promise in the Word that God will protect them, provide for them and instruct them.

David knew God’s promise and speaks of it in Psalms and Chronicles. He said riches and honor come from God who reigns over all. He said he had been young and now was old yet he had not seen the righteous forsaken nor God’s seed begging bread. Everything is God’s. Any material things we have are only for a short time because it is all God’s. God’s desire is to bless His people and we need only believe to receive.

We receive all we have from God. Then to honor Him we give. By giving, we receive. This is a virtuous cycle of Receiving — Giving —Receiving. God’s challenge in Malachi was for His people to prove Him by tithing the best they had. God has no concern that if too many people did this, He would run out of resources. God has an abundant supply. God can make things last longer for us as we give and are good stewards. God can help us find good prices for things when we are taking proper care of the financial blessings He has provided. When we need something, we should not tell God how much money we need to get it. We just ask for the item itself and let Him take care of the details!

If we sow, God promises we will reap. If we sow sparingly, we will reap sparingly. But if we sow bountifully, we will reap bountifully. When Moses brought the children of Israel out of Egypt, he did so with silver and gold and there was not one feeble person among them. God had brought the gold into Egypt through Joseph and God took it out.

Prosperity can mean many things, but having the things we need in this life and being prospered by God financially is included. We can claim what God promises to us, because what He promises, we have the right to lay hold upon. God expects us to give the best. We can expect to receive His best in return.
