"Leaning On The Everlasting Arms" - Rev. Steven A. Michels

Psalm 46:10; Psalm 104:1-24; Revelation 4:11; Ephesians 2:18-22; II Thessalonians 3:5; Romans 8:29-32; Proverbs 16:9; 19:21; Psalm 25:4, 5, 21; 27:1, 14; 62:1, 2, 5-8; 130:1-6; 4:1-4

At times, we may find ourselves failing to stop and behold the beauty of God’s creation, both around and within us. God wants us to be still and know that He is God. To do this, we must settle down in our minds, blocking out all the stimuli of the world to acknowledge God and His works. This is good for the soul.

The scriptures declare that the earth is full of the riches of the Lord. So much of God’s creation is directed toward us and for us, for our blessing. Yet to God it is all about a love relationship with His family. God’s plan for man is to be His dwelling place. This is all by way of the spirit God created in us, making us complete individuals. Our future is set, already having been determined by God! We are awaiting the Lord’s return but as we do so, we want to lean on the everlasting arms of our Heavenly Father, allowing the Lord to direct our hearts. How? We must be patient. We do not have it within ourselves to direct our own paths. We must allow ourselves to be directed by the Lord in light of Christ’s return. Developing a habit pattern of leaning on the everlasting arms is important. We must rely upon Him and be still, knowing He is God.

It behooves us to continue to go to God, reading the Word, praying and believing to have that spirit energized. Then we simply throw ourselves into His arms. One of our greatest challenges today is truly to put ourselves into His care and then wait to see what will unfold. We are, sadly, too impatient, wanting results instantly.

We can have “good courage” because we know how good God is. God will strengthen our hearts. We can pour out our hearts to our heavenly Father and He will hear. We wait and pray and will have a new song. We can lean on His everlasting arms!
