"God Given Desires" - Rev. Steven A. Michels

God encourages His servants in His Word by reminding them that He will always supply what the servant needs. A good company owner makes sure his workers have the right equipment and tools to get the job done. God is no different. His business is the people business. In the body of Christ, we all serve in unique ways. It is just a matter of having faith in God to supply what we need to do His work.

When God needs something done, His people respond. At times, the ones who should be answering do not, so others have to take up the burden so the work can get done. They learn to do things that are not easy for them, so they must rely upon God to accomplish it. This takes humility. There are really only two choices — to serve the things of the world or the things of the Lord.

Matthew 6 contains wonderful illustrations of how God cares for us. It speaks of the birds which do not worry how they will be fed or the lilies of the field which have no concern about how they will grow. If God cares for them, will He not do more for His people? We must not go through life thinking we have to take care of everything ourselves, without help from God. He knows everything ahead of time and is working with us, guiding us all the way.

Too often we go along totally oblivious of what is happening in the spiritual realm. Daniel 10 contains a wonderful example of how Daniel prayed for three weeks without seeing any results. God finally showed Daniel how He had sent His angel, Michael, to work behind the scenes, fighting the enemy.

It is a daily heart attitude to assure God is on the throne of our hearts every day. Righteousness is right living, and as we live that way, all things will be added to us. This does not mean that whatever we desire, God will give us. In the greater context of the Word, if we trust God and seek His righteousness, our communing with Him will result in thoughts that formulate a desire that the Lord puts on our hearts. Father knows best!

It is a matter of priority to seek first the kingdom of God and move according to His direction. As we walk out on faith, He will supply.
