Hosea 4:6; Jeremiah 2:13; Psalm 12:6; 119:105, 72, 162; Jeremiah 15:16; Numbers 23:19; Jeremiah 36:1-32 In Hosea, God says His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge of the Word of God. To know the Will of God, one must know His Word. He reveals His Will through the scriptures and by His spirit. Jeremiah speaks of how God says His people have forsaken Him and hewed them out broken cisterns that can hold no water. God did not abandon them. They forsook God, Who is likened to a fountain of living waters which has an endless source of supply. A cistern has a limited supply and these were broken. They were not even capable of providing what they were supposed to because they were broken. Hewing out cisterns requires work. The Word of God is the revelation of God. The scriptures put us in contact with God, Who is the fountain of living waters. We cannot know God without knowing His Word. We cannot understand His Word without spirit. Jeremiah speaks of how his heart rejoiced when he found Gods Word. Gods Word is trustworthy and reliable because God is trustworthy and reliable. Gods Word teaches us to repent and change our evil ways. Doing so brings about deliverance to us. Jeremiah 36 records an account of how God gave the word to Jeremiah and Jeremiah had Baruch write it down. Although Jeremiah dictated it and Baruch wrote it down, it was Gods Word. He is the Author of what was spoken and written. It was then Baruchs responsibility to read the Word to Gods people so they could repent from their evil ways. Baruch did so in the house of the Lord as he was instructed. When Michaiah heard the reading, he went and declared what he had heard to the princes in the kings house. Finally Jehudi took the scroll and read it to the king and all his princes. Gods Word does not come from the will of man. He still speaks with us today via His written word and through spirit-filled men and women. We will be blessed as we listen, remember and obey Gods Word. He will provide, protect and guide us in every situation when we seek His heart and discipline ourselves to do His will each day.

"The Profit Of God's Word Today"- Rev. Steven A. Michels
The response of the king was to take the scroll, cut it up and through it into the fire. God had given them His Word for their profit, but they rejected it. So God told Jeremiah to have Baruch write it again with many more words added. Men with their critical opinions have come and gone through the centuries, but the Word of God still stands. They may have destroyed the book, but they could not destroy the Author.
