Ephesians 4:8 In the Christian church, we are greatly interested in things of the spirit. Specifically, there is the gift of holy spirit and the aspects of it called manifestations. There are also ministries in the church. Ephesians 4 talks in detail about how, when Christ ascended, he gave gifts unto men. This verse speaks of certain individuals who have been set apart for specific work within the church. Christian believers get excited when we see miracles and healings. Yet we must understand the truth of Gods Word regarding all these matters. This also applies to laying on of hands. We will look at this topic in seven areas. One thing we will note is that in all instances, laying on of hands is not done at the discretion of the individual but by revelation from the Lord. We must always keep in mind that the things of the spirit of God will never run at cross purposes with the Word of God. All these categories show ways in which the will of God is accomplished at various times. We will see that sometimes Gods will is the laying on of hands, while at other times it is not. The only way we can know which way is right is to ask the Father. The Word of God also records examples where laying hands on someone was not the will of God (John 7:30; Matthew 26:50; Acts 4:3).
