"The Key To Living Is Giving" - Rev. Steve Michels

Genesis 1:29-31; 12:2; Romans 8:32; I Corinthians 2:12; Ephesians 1:3; I Timothy 6:17; Luke 6:38; Luke 6:22-38; Proverbs 11:24, 25; Ecclesiastes 11:1-3; Proverbs 3:24-28; 19:17; 3:9, 10; Matthew 10:1, 8; II Corinthians 9:6-10; Philippians 2:12-16; Matthew 5:14-16

Whenever and wherever God's people walk away from principle, there are consequences. Often in the Old Testament we see how God's people were blessed, but would then walk away and find themselves in trouble. Yet every time they cried to God, He heard and delivered them.

We should not spend time magnifying consequences, but should be among those who stand in the gap. We must go to God on behalf of our leadership that He would restore what has been torn down. Financially the world is teetering on the edge of an abyss, but God wants repentance so He can intervene. We should pray that the power of God can be loosed against what the Devil is trying to do.

God is a giver, and being His children, we have the nature and abilities to be like Him, to be the antithesis of human nature, which is selfishness. We live in trying times, and more are ahead. Now is when the "cream" comes to the top, when those who have true faith in their God and the accuracy of His Word believe He will provide limitless resources to help in our time of need.

God is a giver yet He has to have a recipient of all His love, mercy and grace for it to have effect. The recipients are His people. In his day, Abraham was a great recipient, and he was also a giver. God is in the business of blessing so His people can, in turn, be a blessing to others.

God has given us salvation and also the true treasures of His Word. Our living God will never leave, but instead gives us richly all things to enjoy. Part of the principle of keeping the heavens open to us is to give. The scriptures tell us that what we sow, we reap. What we give, we get. Proverbs says that the "liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself." Ecclesiastes says "Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days." "It" refers to the profit of doing so. The profit will come to us.

God gives of His abundance. When there is a need, we should have no problem giving of our abundance. Proverbs says that when we honor the Lord with our substance and the firstfruits of our increase, our barns will be filled with plenty. Plenty means there is extra.

People notice what we do more than what we say. We will always be blessed by being a blessing and what we give, God will give back to us in abundance.
