We have a good message which incorporates the truth that Christ the Savior will return and gather together the Church. All those God has fathered through His Son will be forever with the Lord. The scriptures reveal that right now we are the sons of God -- not in the future after we have racked up enough points to be considered good enough, or when we have done enough work to be deemed worthy. The moment a person receives the gospel of deliverance, repents and accepts Jesus Christ as payment for sin, that person becomes a child of God. In so doing, certain rights (such as being righteous, justified, redeemed, and reconciled to God) become available right now.
I John says, "Beloved now are we the sons of God ... ." No one can be elevated to a better position than that of a son or daughter of God. Knowing that being a child of God is a reality now should inspire us to act like we are. In verse 1, there are words that are not found in the King James but are in the Greek texts. It not only says that we are CALLED the sons of God, but that we ARE!
So what is required? Everything has already been written. We just need to speak it!
Romans 3 speaks of the righteousness of God NOW through Jesus Christ. Romans 5:9 says we are NOW justified by his blood. Romans 5:11 says we have NOW received the atonement. Romans 8:1 says there is NOW no condemnation or judgment to them which are in Christ Jesus. II Corinthians 6:2 says NOW is the day of salvation.
Ephesians 1 speaks of the "earnest of our inheritance." The fullness of the promise of God is in the future, but we are blessed with all spiritual blessings NOW; we are accepted in the beloved NOW; we have redemption NOW; we have forgiveness of sins NOW; we have obtained an inheritance and have the promise of it NOW! There is a more complete salvation yet to come. But right now, we have been saved (made whole) with all spiritual blessings that are available to us in this life.
Romans 11:29 says the gifts and callings of God are without repentance. God will not take them back. That makes our salvation permanent!
We can, of course, have all these wonderful things and do nothing with them. Whether or not any of us live in light of God's blessings has no effect on God's gift. But for those who do, there will be rewards.
Romans 13 speaks of our salvation both now and in the future when we receive the fullness of it. We know what we are and should act like it. As each day passes, we are one day closer to the return of Christ. We put on in our minds what God has made us to be and walk in light of being sons of God NOW.
When Christ returns, we will receive the fullness of our inheritance. But right NOW, we have the righteousness of God, sonship and should walk in light of the truth that we are children of the most high God.
