[Isaiah 55:9]; Genesis 6:5-8; I Samuel 15:1-3, 32, 33; I Kings 18:40; Psalm 71:1-24; John 14:1-3; II Thessalonians 2:16, 17; Revelation 19:9-21; 20:10-15; 21:1-8; John 3:16, 17 Our hearts go out for those who have suffered the loss of loved ones due to the tragic events of Tuesday, September 11 and we pray the God of all comfort will heal the many broken hearts during this time of deep sorrow. We pray God continues to give wisdom and courage to President George W. Bush and his advisors. Let us also be in prayer for our military men and women who, at this very hour, are in harms way. And may God bless America and may He bless all the freedom-loving people in the nations around the world. People all over this great land are experiencing a wide range of emotions due to the tragic events of Tuesday, September 11. In many respects, a sense of security has been replaced with shock. The uncertainty of future events has most people terrified. Let it not be so for true believers. You and I would do well to seek the heart of our Father in prayer and through His Word. Only He can heal the broken hearted; only He can infuse the weak with strength; only He can give courage to the otherwise timid; only His love will cast out fear. Please visit our website at www.faithfulword.org for resources that are encouraging and comforting in these times. We have good hope! We live in the United States of America and know the principles upon which it is built. As long as there are God-fearing men and women in this Country, it will have Gods blessings to some degree. There are, of course, consequences for the sin of the people in this country, but we are a strong people and our God is a God of gods. We must not allow ourselves to be caught up in the hysteria of the times. We need to read the Bible and to walk soberly and vigilantly. We should have our spiritual "antennae" up. Is God a God of vengeance? Is there wrath of the Almighty God? We need to look at what the righteous God does under the category of "good." Our definition of "good" is not necessarily Gods. His ways are not our ways. There are times when individuals, kingdoms and countries are so evil that the most humane, good thing to do is to put them out of their misery and spare everyone else that vile, evil infection. God is good, but He does not take nonsense. When we read the whole scope of Gods Word, we see a God who desires a family, with individuals who will love Him freely and willingly. That is why God gave men and angels the freedom of will to choose whether to worship Him or not. Humans, without God, are evil at the core of their being and are, at best, animals. The only thing that separated man from the animals in the garden was not intellect, but spirit. We have emotions but we must always curb them with truth. In all of this, let us not forget eternity. This life is but for a moment. Being hope-minded gives us endurance, allowing us to keep going and think clearly. In the end, the goodness of God will include His righteous judgment and the wages of sin is death. Let us be inspired to speak salvation to those who do not yet know God nor have received Jesus Christ as their lord and savior. We must exercise our sound minds watch, be sober, be vigilant, keeping our hearts in Gods Word and comforting one another in these challenging times.
