[II Timothy 3:13]; Psalm 124:1-8; 118:1-8; [II Corinthians 10:4, 5]; Psalm 119:9-24; 118:25-29; Hebrews 13:1-6; Ecclesiastes 9:5; [Hebrews 13:27]; Ecclesiastes 9:6, 10, 7-9; Hebrews 2:14, 15, 9-18; Ephesians 2:14-18; II Timothy 1:10; 7; 8-10; [Psalm 34:4]; Romans 6:9; Acts 13:34-52; I Peter 1:3-25; Colossians 3:1-25; Psalm 27:1-14

Biblical accounts indicate to us that as time marches on and we get closer to the return of Jesus Christ, things will not get better on the earth. They will continue to corrupt, decay and get worse and worse. Most of this is due to the fact that the Devil is evil and is fighting harder and harder. There is also responsibility laid at the feet of parents who are supposed to teach the next generation. Those of us who have a knowledge of God and His Word are also responsible to preach it. We are not to be encased in fear but to look for opportunities to minister the Word of God with boldness. Currently, we have a resurgence of people thinking about God, praying to God and looking to Him for help. As a result, the Devil uses the only real weapon he has — fear.

Preparation for situations in life is wise and smart — all of the time. Yet we have to live life, trusting God that He will take care of us. We do what we need to be prepared yet God’s message to the church today is — Be not afraid. To accomplish this, we must control what we are putting in our minds. Psalm 124:8 says "our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth." God Almighty is THE Creator of heaven and earth, not other gods that may be worshipped.

When we tell ourselves, "I will not fear because what can man do to me?", we will be blessed. God needs people who are standing upon faith to minister truth to those who are floundering. Now is a prime time to preach the message of salvation to people who have not heard. It is not a time to hide or be terrified, but to believe God and take advantage of the situation. We are to pray for those in government leadership who make critical decisions, but ultimately we have our trust and confidence in God.
Man’s greatest fear is death. Hebrews says Jesus Christ "tasted death for every man that he might destroy the Devil who has the power of death and deliver those who had fear of death all their lives." Corinthians says death is an enemy. It is not a welcomed friend. Yet in the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ, death was conquered. When we confess Jesus as Lord and believe in our hearts God raised him from the dead, we have eternal life. As we look to the appearing of Jesus Christ, we rid ourselves of fear of death — for we have eternal life.

People do not need to hear the latest news reports. They need to hear the Word of God. There will always be something to cause fear but the Word of God eradicates fear. Now is the opportunity to speak in our neighborhoods, schools and jobs of God’s delivering power. When we think about the Lord Jesus Christ and all he accomplished, we have joy unspeakable, not fear and trepidation. Thinking about the hope of Christ’s return keeps us sober minded.
We, as believers, do not have a spirit of fear — but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. We must fill our minds with the Word of God and set our affections on things above, not things of the earth. We have the privilege and opportunity to boldly tell others about our powerful God and Father and His Son, Jesus Christ.
